Embassy Of Russia Says The Survival Of BiH As A State Is At Stake: “The Moment Of Truth Has Come”

The Embassy of the Russian Federation in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) issued a statement regarding the recent decisions and the second-instance verdict in the case of Milorad Dodik and the stripping of his mandate as president of the entity Republika Srpska(RS).

In a public statement, the Russian Embassy said that Christian Schmidt’s reaction is a “parody.”

“For BiH, the moment of truth has come. Either it will prove that it is truly a legal democratic state and reject the politicized verdict against Milorad Dodik, which was pushed through under Western pressure, or it will align itself with Moldova, Romania, France, Germany, Austria, the United States (U.S.), in essence, the entire collective West, where agencies for law enforcement are hypocritically and arrogantly used to destroy their opponents,” they stated.

They also said that pressure is being exerted on the judicial system.

“What a parody of democracy is Christian Schmidt’s reaction, who suddenly claimed it is necessary to enforce court decisions. A person who has spat on the United Nations (UN) Security Councilthe fundamental body of international lawcalls for respect for laws that he himself proclaimed by pressuring the ‘independent judicial system,'” they emphasize.

They also stated that BiH cannot afford, in their view, to make a historic mistake.

“Have they here truly forgotten its reputation as the ‘European powder keg’ in a blind and furious desire to destroy the most prominent figure in the country with someone else’s hands, instead of finally starting a dialogue with him about the future? Because at stake is not only BiH‘s place in the ‘democratic European family’which is, in fact, a jar of spiders and snakes. What is truly at stake is the existence of BiH as a unified state,” they said.

They state that it is necessary to view the situation wisely.

“That is precisely why those on whom the development of the situation depends must cool their hot heads, reject external dictates in order not to become like the Kyiv junta, which has turned into an instrument of foreign will. It is necessary to view the forming situation wisely, to take into account the fundamental principles of international law, and to reduce the level of tension. And if the situation spirals out of control, it is they who will bear responsibility for it. That is why we once again state that for BiH the moment of truth has come, because after that may come the point of no return,” they concluded.
