The embassies of the Kingdom of Norway in Sarajevo and Belgrade launched an initiative to present Norwegian expertise and investors to the Western Balkans at the “Opportunities for the Development of Renewable Energy in the Western Balkans” conference, which will be held at the Palace of Serbia in Belgrade on November 17.
The conference, as stated by the Foreign Trade Chamber of Bosnia and Herzegovina, is an opportunity to further strengthen cooperation between the countries of the Western Balkans and Norway, their industries and companies.
Authorities, regulatory agencies and energy companies of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Serbia are invited to participate and present their visions in the energy sector and to meet Norwegian partners.
Due to the turmoil in the global energy market, governments around the world are facing unprecedented challenges including rapid price changes and possible energy shortages. At the same time, long-term commitments to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and accelerate the transition to green energy remain in focus.
Further investments, as announced by the FTC BiH, are needed to increase the capacities for energy production. New energy system solutions will be important to prepare for the transition from coal to fully renewable sources in combination with expanding storage capacities.
