The Energy Summit “SET – Trebinje 2026” opened today in Trebinje, where over the next three days, around 700 energy experts, investors, and directors of power companies from the region will discuss the most important issues in this field.
The opening of the summit in Trebinje will be attended by the Deputy Chairperson of the Council of Ministers of BiH and Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations Staša Košarac, the Minister of Energy and Mining of the Republika Srpska Petar Đokić, the General Director of the Power Company of the Republika Srpska Luka Petrović, the Mayor of Trebinje Mirko Ćurić and numerous other guests from BiH and the region.
The three-day Summit “SET – Trebinje 2026” is being held under the slogan “Artificial Intelligence drives and creates the energy future of the region”.
The seventh Summit will discuss the most current topics in the field of energy in the Balkans and beyond, such as energy transition, electricity trading and investments in energy, but also new topics, such as nuclear energy as a future replacement for fossil fuels and the application of artificial intelligence in energy.
Seven panel discussions will be held, which will discuss topics such as investments in energy, electricity trading, the establishment of an electricity exchange in BiH, as well as new technologies in energy, with a special emphasis on the application of artificial intelligence and the digitalization of the electricity system.
The electricity market, exchange interconnection and PPA models will also be discussed, as well as the impact of the CBAM mechanism on the energy sector in BiH and the region, as well as grid modernization, smart systems, geothermal and nuclear energy as segments of the future energy mix.
The organizers announced that on the first day, after the opening of the Summit, a plenary session will be held on “Application of Artificial Intelligence in Energy: Predictive Analysis, System Balancing, Digitalization and Optimization of the Energy System”, followed by a panel discussion on “Energy Transition of the Western Balkans: Challenges, Reality and the Path to 2030/2050”.
As announced, on the second day of the meeting, a panel discussion on the topic “360-degree Market: Stock Exchange, Market Coupling, RES, Electricity Storage, PPA Contracts and CBAM” will be on the agenda.
This will be followed by panel discussions on the topics “Exploration and Exploitation of Geothermal Energy – Potential, Opportunities and Cost-Effectiveness of Application” and “Impact of the EU CBAM Mechanism on the Energy Sector in BiH and the Region – Challenges, Opportunities and Adaptation Strategies”.
The third day of the Summit will feature a panel discussion on the topic “Investments in RES 2026: Record Demands, Challenges of Connecting New Facilities to the Power Grid”.
Panel discussions on the topics “Modernization and Automation of the Power Grid: Future Development Trends” and “Nuclear Energy: The Foundation of the Energy Future?” are also planned, Srna writes.
