EU considers the “Russian Regime” solely responsible for the Death of Navalny

The European Union (EU) considers the “Russian regime” solely responsible for the death of Alexei Navalny, the main opponent of President Vladimir Putin, European Council President Charles Michel said.

Navalny died today in an Arctic prison, where he was serving a 19-year sentence.

“Alexei Navalny fought for the values of freedom and democracy. He made the greatest sacrifice for his ideals… I send my sincere condolences to his family and those who fight for democracy all over the world. Fighters die, but the fight for freedom never ends,” Michel wrote on platform X.

Navalny died today in the Russian prison in the Polar Circle where he was serving a 19-year prison sentence, the prison service announced, adding that the cause of death is being determined.
