The Chief of the Joint Staff of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Lieutenant General Gojko Knežević, and the Deputy Chief of the Joint Staff of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina for Resources, Major General Mirsad Ahmić, received the newly appointed EUFOR Commander in BiH, Major General Florin-Marian Barbua, on a working inaugural visit, the Public Relations Office of the Ministry of Defense of BiH announced.
On behalf of the Joint Staff of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina and on his own behalf, General Knežević welcomed the newly appointed General Barbua to BiH and wished him success in his future work.
Knežević expressed his satisfaction with the visit and the opportunity to talk, emphasizing that the presence of EUFOR in Bosnia and Herzegovina is extremely important for maintaining security and stability in Bosnia and Herzegovina. During the meeting, General Knežević informed the EUFOR Commander about the place, role and structure of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the defense system of BiH and the implementation of current priority tasks and operations of the Armed Forces of BiH in the country and abroad.
He particularly emphasized the importance of the assistance that EUFOR provides to the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina and expressed his sincere expectation that the level of cooperation in the coming period will be raised to an even higher level.
General Barbua thanked for the welcome and the information presented, and emphasized that EUFOR forces will continue the mission of continuity in preserving the security and stability of BiH, and assist the Armed Forces of BiH in the field of training and education, as well as that he will personally invest all efforts and experience to justify the trust placed in him.
It was concluded that the security situation in BiH is stable and that the Armed Forces of BiH and EUFOR remain committed and dedicated to the common goal of maintaining a safe and stable environment in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Western Balkans region, and that this can only be achieved through dialogue, joint action and mutual respect.
