European Commission Started a Writing Competition for Young People on EU Enlargement

The European Commission started a writing competition titled “What does an enlarged EU mean to you?” targeting young people from the European Union, as well as from the countries in the process of enlargement.

The winners will win a two day visit to Brussels and an e-reader, announced the European Commission.

2014 marks the 10th anniversary of the biggest enlargement of the EU, when 10 countries joined the Union. The EU perspective is now open for Albania, B&H, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Iceland, Kosovo, Montenegro, Serbia and Turkey.

In this sense, the competition will allow young people from 15 to 25 years old to express their opinion on several issues, such as -what the current 28 members states of the EU can learn from their past to help create a better future, and what EU enlargement represents. The competition will be open until 11 May 2014.

The jury of every country will choose one work from every age group ( from 15 to 18 years old and from 19 to 25 years old) for further evaluation by an international jury.

The best work from every group will be awarded.
