We talk better about the European path than we act in that sense. Proof – the growth plan and the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina(BiH), which is on the verge of losing the European Union’s (EU) billion euros, out of six billion, which is provided for the countries of the Western Balkans. The reason, for the umpteenth time, is the fragmentation of the system, political interests and the impossibility of agreement. Namely, in order for the funds to be operational, we must meet certain criteria. The deadline for submitting the list of reforms expired on Friday at noon. BiHauthorities are once again pinning their hopes – on the goodwillof the Union.
One billion euros separates us from the list of reforms that we must submit to the European Commission. On it, the priorities from eight key areas that were set before BiH after the granting of candidate status. The deadline for delivery expired on Fridayat 12 noon. At 12:05 – our country could have still fulfilled its promise. If it’s not too late.
“We will declare on Monday at the latest. I hope that all actors will be so responsible and aware that when only one does not participate in it, it will hinder us when it comes to the implementation of the plan for BiH. And that they will be aware that this is something that will directly affect life and the economy in BiH“, said Borjana Kristo, chairwoman of the Council of Ministers of BiH (HDZBiH).
The process was blocked by ministers from Republika Srpska (RS). Again, the old way. They see the overthrow of the Constitution in everything.
“When it comes to the Growth Map, which we define at the joint level with full visibility of the RS and Federation of BiH (FBiH), we do not agree with certain ambitious positions of the EU that are not in accordance with the Constitution and the Dayton structure of BiH“, says Stasa Kosarac, Minister of Foreign Trade and economic relations of BiH (SNSD).
The goal is to encourage reforms in BiH. In particular, those that we promised to the European Commission with the green light for opening negotiations. Not only would it bring us closer to the economy of the Union countries, but our country would also benefit directly from everything. Worth billions of euros, Federalna writes.
