The documents and the licence for work were handed in to Emir Duranović and Elma Brutus by the Minister of education, young population, science, culture and sports of the Bosnian-Podrinje Canton Goražde, Azra Kuljuh. It is an international private university which will be situated in the premises of the ICC and will start with work on November this year.
“We handed in the documents on opening the International University in Goražde which means we opened the possibility of making Goražde a certain regional centre when it comes to development stimulated by opening high education institutions in our town. It’s a big accomplishment for us, a great honour. Since 2006, the Canton invested around 3 900 000 BAM to finance the dislocated classes of the Sarajevo and Mostar University. Those who started to study at these faculties in Goražde and those who graduated as economists or jurist prove our results. The investments the Canton made really show results. By this opening of the new University we continue to develop.” – said Minister Kuljuh on this occasion.
“It’s not going to be easy to get students from B&H this year, but the licence provides studies in English and Turkish. We have some promises from the people and agency in Turkey that we could have around 50-100 Turkish students who would listen to classes in Turkish. We would be happy if we could get at least one group of students for any academic program so we can organize classes in our language. As for the staff, we will do our best to bring them from our country, and if we will not be able to do that, we will invite the professors from Turkey.” – said Duranović.
