“On the one hand we have information about the increased number of false asylum seekers from some countries, but not from BiH. We should be aware that Europe is now in a situation where there are populist, nationalist aspirations, where some leaders want to close the borders of their countries and who might have damaged the freedom of movement in Europe,” she added.
In this context, she said, the visa-free regime for all Western Balkan countries should be protected.
“This means that people need to know where the limits of freedom of movement are and respect the rights and security of the borders and do whatever is necessary so that people do not violate the freedom of movement,” Fajon said.
She added that she spoke with representatives of the Ministry of Security yesterday in Sarajevo and that this institution does a good job and that a lot of things are done to prevent human trafficking.
“Such measures should be implemented by all countries in the region,” concluded the European Parliamentarian Tanja Fajon.
