The far-right candidate in the presidential election in Romania, George Simion, admitted defeat two days ago in the second round of the election in which the pro-European candidate, mayor of Bucharest Nicusor Dan, won.
“He (Dan) won the election, the Romanian people expressed their will,” said Simion, who promised to “continue the fight.”
Simion, leader of the far-right party AUR, who two days ago declared victory immediately after the announcement of the first election results, won around 46 percent of the votes.
After counting more than 90 percent of the votes, the pro-European mayor of Bucharest, centrist candidate Dan, received almost 54 percent of the votes.
