Federal Minister of Labour: Almost 94 Percent Of The Budget Directly Directed To Citizens

Within the Budget of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH) for 2026, the budget of the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Policy was adopted in a total amount of around 712 million BAM, of which as much as 670 million BAM, or nearly 94 percent, is directly planned for benefits and support to citizens.

Funds intended for benefits for parent caregivers, persons with disabilities, child allowance, and civilian victims of war record an increase compared to previous years. Thus, for benefits for parent caregivers in 2026, 59 million BAM is planned, which is 41.5 million BAM more compared to 2022. The budget for civilian victims of war has been increased from 23.7 million BAM in 2022 to 31.5 million BAM in 2026.

For benefits for persons with disabilities in 2026, 336 million BAM is planned, compared to 142 million BAM in 2022, while 228 million BAM has been allocated for child allowance, compared to 50 million BAM four years ago. Parallel with the increase in total allocations, individual benefits have also increased, so in the past period, the amount of child allowance was raised from 114 to 195 BAM, and benefits for persons with disabilities for the most severe categories from 400 to almost 800 BAM.

Support for natality continues in 2026 as well, and for the third consecutive year, 16 million BAM has been planned for one-time assistance for newborn children in the amount of 1.000 BAM per child. In the past two years, more than 30.000 families in the FBiH have been covered by this measure.

The budget also plans 13.3 million BAM for the development of social services in local communities, through the work of centers for social work, municipal services, and public and non-profit organizations that provide support to children with disabilities, children and youth with developmental difficulties, children without parental care, victims of violence, elderly and infirm persons, and other vulnerable categories.

Additionally, the budget plans 2.24 million BAM for support to pensioners, of which 2 million BAM is intended for spa treatment, and the remaining funds for projects of healthy and active ageing.

Federal Minister of Labour and Social Policy Adnan Delic emphasized that the 2026 budget demonstrates continuity in strengthening social security and the systematic increase of support for all categories under the Ministry’s care, alongside simultaneous work on improving the normative and legal framework in order to further enhance the rights and quality of life of beneficiaries.
