Federal Prime Minister Fadil Novalic has promised that pensions in the Federation of BiH will increase. According to him, the results confirm that he is fulfilling his promises.
As he stated, the numbers they found in the pension fund were alarming. The accumulated deficit of the fund at the end of 2016 amounted to 227 million BAM.
“We knew that the continuation of the work of our predecessors could only lead to a larger deficit. Pensions were irregular, unstable and not at all fair. We knew it was time for change. We recognized the problem and started working on a solution,” the prime minister said on Facebook.
He added that, with the adoption of the new Law on Pension and Disability Insurance, which entered into force in March 2018, they managed to turn the deficit of 227 million into a surplus of 56,000,000 BAM by the end of 2019.
“The growth of the surplus enabled the increase of pensions by as much as 20 percent. When I came to the head of the government, the average pension was 365 BAM and the lowest 326 BAM. Currently, the average pension is 428 BAM, and the lowest 382 BAM. the average number of pensioners during the previous Government of the Federation of BiH was 386,000, while from 2015 until today, the average number is 412,000 “, concluded Novalic.
