The Court accepted the agreement in which Hadžić admitted that he departed to Syria via airport in Istanbul in the summer of 2013, with the aim of joining the units of the Islamic State.
“Given that the accused confessed, and previously even deterred others from joining the Islamic State in his testimony in this case, the Court found it suitable to accept this sentence that has been maximally reduced,” said the Chairman of the Trial Chamber Mirsad Strika.
Hadžić reached an agreement with the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH on confession, and the agreement proposed a one-year prison sentence.
