If you drive in a winter jacket and coat, in Spain you can be fined up to 200 euros.
The same applies if you are wearing a scarf or gloves, and behind the rule is the fact that such additional layers restrict driving, i.e. limit the driver’s movements behind the wheel.
Tests by the German Automobile Club (ADAC) have shown that there may be more problems with the winter jacket.
According to the HAK Magazine, it will make it impossible to properly tighten the seat belt, which can slip over the stomach and injure the intestines, liver or spleen.
Namely, due to the filling of winter clothes, space remains between the belt and the body, so the belt cuts deeply into the stomach at the time of the accident.
Then there can be serious injuries to soft tissues, such as intestines, liver or spleen, and even internal bleeding.
Therefore, it is recommended to remove the jacket before entering the car.
Also, children should be tied up without thick winter clothes.
