Dr. Lejla Alic from the Faculty of Medicine in Sarajevo has been awarded a prestigious research grant by the Association for Diagnostics and Laboratory Medicine (ADLM) in the United States (U.S.)
An exceptional piece of news for Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) comes from the international stage of laboratory medicine. Dr. Lejla Alic, a doctor of medical biochemistry and an assistant professor at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Sarajevo (UNSA), has won the 2025 ADLM General Research Grant, a distinguished recognition awarded by the ADLM in the U.S.
It should be noted that up to now, this award has been won by researchers from prestigious universities such as the Yale School of Medicine and Lejla is the first recipient outside the U.S.!
The prestigious General Research Grant is awarded to experts who independently lead research projects with significant potential to advance clinical laboratory practice and improve healthcare. The award confirms the quality of her work and recognizes her contribution to laboratory medicine on a global level.
Dr. Alic joins the growing circle of BiH professionals who internationally confirm the quality of their work – from Europe to the U.S. This award shows that talent from the region can certainly influence fields such as laboratory medicine, genetics, and diagnostics.
