Flowers laid at the Place of Murder of the First Civilian Victims of Sarajevo

Delegations of the Union of Civilian War Victims of the Canton Sarajevo and the Sarajevo Canton Government on Wedensday laid flowers on the memorial plaque on the Vrbanja bridge, at the place of the murder of the first Sarajevo civilian victims, Suada Dilberović and Olga Sučić.

“Today we are at the scene of the murder of the first civilian victims of the war, Suada and Olga. The name of Muhidin Šabanović, who was also killed on April 5 in that place, was unfairly neglected. We joined the memory of the 1,601 murdered children of besieged Sarajevo. Today we remember all the citizens of Sarajevo who were brutally killed during the aggression against Bosnia and Herzegovina and Sarajevo. Unfortunately, for the 11,541 citizens of Sarajevo who were killed in the aggression, I have only four judgments of the Hague Tribunal, and that is based on command responsibility. To date, the BiH Prosecutor’s Office has not processed a single indictment regarding individual responsibility. We are dissatisfied with the work of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH because the fact is that Sarajevo is the most documented city in terms of the siege, war crimes and everything we survived during the 1,425 days of siege,” said Senida Karović, president of the Union of Civilian Victims of War of the Canton of Sarajevo.

She added that based on the verdicts of the Hague Tribunal alone, the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH can file at least 100 indictments regarding individual responsibilities.

“Everything is available to them, by name and surname, but to date nothing has happened regarding the terrorization of the citizens of Sarajevo,” added Karović, according to a statement from the Protocol and Press Service of the Sarajevo Canton.
