“Considering the fact that a number of traffic violations and accidents happened in the past year, it was decided that this situation on the roads must be urgently changed. We need to intensify our presence on the roads. However, we are present now as well, we have a very good radar system. No one has 33 stationed housings and 11 radars in a whole country, I even think that so many radars are not present in all of the FBiH. However, even this is clearly not enough,” said Senad Kljajic, the Minister of Internal Affairs of USC.
Kljajic believes that there are several ways to fix the current situation on the road.
“For example, by investing in mobile radars. However, this kind of thing would, on the other hand, bring a significant risk of corruption. Probably the best way is to stay on the field and work with young people, because our biggest problems on the roads is our youth. And the best way possible is to change the Criminal Code, or increase the sanctions and penalties for offenders. The current law is just too soft,” said Kljajic.
Kljajic stated that MIA USC plans to recruit about 250 young police officers. During last year, 30 of them were received.
From the ministry emphasized that several projects with the aim of better technical equipment of employees of MIA have been launched recently. Primarily, they made the reconstruction and renovation of facilities of MIA in Sanski Most and Bihac, and they are planning to do the same in other cities as well.
“This way we wanted to improve working conditions for all our employees, and to reduce energy consumption. Furthermore, we have launched a number of other projects. For example, we purchased 120,000 BAM worth radio system. Bihac should get complete center for digital control of connections these days. Around 29 of handheld stations, 10 school station, 4 fixed stations and 3 towers and 2 digital links will be installed, as well as equipment for the maintenance of all of them. We are the first ministry in the country that will receive digital equipment,” said Kljajic, adding that after Bihac, other cities should get this equipment as well.
The Minister emphasized that the police of USC is in the process of procurement of special equipment for traffic and criminal police, which will be used for more efficient and more operational performance of all tasks, while 10 intervention field vehicles were provided so far.
