Former President of Montenegro denies Acquaintance with Epstein

Former President and Prime Minister of Montenegro Milo Đukanović, who is mentioned in the documents published by the US Department of Justice in the Epstein case, denied that he knew the late American financier and sex offender.

Đukanović is mentioned in messages that Epstein allegedly exchanged with Slovak politician Miroslav Lajčak, who on Saturday, after the publication of the communication with Epstein, resigned from the position of adviser to the prime minister of Slovakia.

Among the important diplomatic functions that Lajčak previously held was the duty of the European Union envoy for the implementation of the referendum on the independence of Montenegro.

Lajčak writes in one of the messages that the President of Montenegro is “looking forward to our visit”. To that, Epstein replied to Lajčak: “Maybe he should provide shelter to Donald (Trump)”. Lajčak then writes that “Donald’s weak point is Montenegro”, according to Hina’s writing in the Montenegrin media.

During the correspondence, Epstein also sends Lajčak a link from the New York Times portal with an article about Montenegro and a photo of Kotor, and Lajčak replies: “I told you that Montenegro is great.”

Epstein also asked Lajčak if Đukanović was the president or prime minister of Montenegro, and Lajčak replied that he was the president.

Part of the messages were exchanged in August 2018, and part on September 21 of the same year.

Đukanović: I didn’t know Epstein
Reacting to the correspondence between Lajčak and Epstein, former President of Montenegro Milo Đukanović said that he did not know Jeffrey Epstein.

In an online post, X also stated that he had never had any direct or indirect communication with Epstein.

“In response to the frequent interest of media representatives regarding the publication of the late Jeffrey Epstein’s communications, I inform you that I did not know Epstein, nor did I ever have direct or indirect communication with him. Therefore, understandably, I cannot testify to the credibility of Epstein’s published conversations, nor to his possible visits to Montenegro.”

In the publication, he also states that he regrets that he cannot meet the expectations of certain media workers and answer the question of how Epstein came to the conclusion that ‘Mr. Đukanović is a great character’.

“I recommend that, if they meet him somewhere before me, they must check it out and inform the public about his position,” Đukanović wrote on X.
