Four Million BAM to be paid to Farmers for Repairing the Damage caused by African Swine Fever

The Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management of the Republika Srpska Savo Minic announced that about 4,000,000 BAM will be paid to farmers, cattle breeders and pig breeders for repairing the damage caused by the African plague, in this case the use of healthy meat.

Minic specified that next week the payment to agricultural producers of about 2,000,000 BAM from the Compensation Fund of the Republika Srpska, plus 2,000,000 BAM to processors, will begin.

He told reporters in Doboj that the relevant ministry was the first in the region to adopt a rulebook on preventing the spread of the African plague, as well as a rulebook on compensation, which he stated was better than others in the region in terms of prices and payment dynamics.

Minic said that Republika Srpska is paying all its obligations according to the planned dynamics.

“On the other side, you have morbid groups that make an ugly picture, situation and representations out of everything. They make a story that certainly does not stand up when it comes to the Republika Srpska,” said Minic.

He stated that praise for the work is not expected, but that there is no need to make a bad story out of the accident that befell farmers or to blame the Government of Republika Srpska for the general situation.

Minic said that the Government has adequate answers to the consequences of recent floods, drought, supercell storms, the African plague and other problems caused by nature.

When it comes to activities to combat African swine fever, Minic announced that conferences will be held in Banja Luka on Thursday, August 24, with the participation of eminent experts in the field.

Speaking about allocations for Doboj from the Fund for Agrarian Payments, Minic stated that in the part related to capital investments, there are more than 90 requests for the purchase of machines, connections, anti-hail nets, technological equipment, for which the reserved funds exceed 1,200,000 BAM.

He said that direct support for capital investments is a long-term investment in agriculture that will produce results in the coming period, Srna reports.
