Ahmed Slamnik is a seven-year-old boy and a second-grade elementary school student from Sarajevo. At just two years old, he learned to play chess from family members. He proved his skill at the recently held Federal Chess Tournament in Tesanj. Among 78 chess players under the age of eight, he won the gold medal.
Ahmed played his first game of chess at just two years old, with his older sister, father, and mother. Competitions are still new to him. Although he hasn’t participated in many, in those he has, he has won medals – often in competition with much older children.
Ahmed is, we believe, just one example of the wonderful, talented, intelligent, and capable children we have in Bosnia and Herzegovina(BiH). They are our greatest treasure, and each of their stories deserves to be told.
