25 years ago, a photographer and a volunteer from Germany visited the area of Varazdin, where he often spent time with children from the refugee camp that was located in this city. However, the boy who lives in Sarajevo, named Elvis, left the biggest mark on him.
Today, Elvis is a grown man and father of two children, but strong memories still bind him to Bjorn, which could be seen during the recent Bjorn’s visit to Sarajevo, where he met with Elvis for the first time in 25 years.
Although they met at a time when it was difficult to put a smile on the face of suffering people, Bjorn was fascinated with a smile of the boy with long hair, which he later thought to ride a bike and photographed every day in order to record a happy childhood in unfortunate circumstances.
Two men tied by memories met after 25 years near Sarajevo, remembering days spent together and black and white photos that linked them by unbreakable bond forever.
They talked about their common experiences from a refugee camp, and although they remembered some great day from that period, they do not want any child to be refugee ever again.
