Deputy Chief of the Joint Staff of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina (AFBiH) for Operations, Major General Ivica Jerkic, met on Tuesday with the delegation of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic (FR) of Germany, the Ministry of Defense of BiH announced yesterday.
The German delegation was led by Major General Markus Kurczyk, commander of the Innere Führung Center, and was accompanied by the military attaché of the Federal Republic of Germany in BiH, Colonel Franz Josef Nolte, and officers of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Germany, Colonel Friedrich von Bismarck, frigate captain Kai Brand and lieutenant Thomas Tüchsen.
Major General Jerkic thanked FR Germany for its support so far in training cadets and command and staff training of senior officers of the AFBiH, support in demining projects, improving ammunition storage conditions and solving the problem of unstable ammunition.
Jurkic also thanked for German support in the implementation of infrastructure projects, equipping the cabinet for learning the German language, and for new financial support of 1.5 million euros for the purchase of uniforms for members of the AFBiH. He emphasized the importance of continued cooperation in all fields, including joint engagement in peace support operations.
Major General Kurczyk thanked for the hospitality and presented the activities of the Innere Führung Center and the contribution to the development of leaders in the German Armed Forces and the possibility of planning and organizing joint educational events.
He emphasized the possibility of joint seminars with members of the AFBiH in the areas of education realized by the Innere Führung Center, such as the development of leadership skills. Furthermore, he emphasized the importance of raising awareness among soldiers and civil society about the importance of state defense, BiH Defense Ministry said in a press release.
