A Club of Female Parliamentarians was formed in the FBiH House of Representatives, where 22 women from 8 political parties and one independent delegate.
“Our primary goal is that by 2014 there are at least 40 percent women on the list of political parties. This means that the goal is to coordinate the election law with the law on gender equality. Our goal is to not only have at least 40 percent women on the lists, but to have just as many elected’’, said the Coordinator of the Club Hafeza Sabljaković for FENA.
When asked how the club will operate in the FBiH Parliament, she said that through an attempt to change the rules they want to become one of the working bodies of both houses of the FBIH Parliament.
“We still have to work informally with regard to the fact that changes in the rules are underway. I believe that our colleagues, before all, would accept that we have a female club of parliamentarians. I think that it is not parallel to any club and I think that there is a justification for our club. I think this is because of the legislation on improving the position of women and families, but also other laws on the economic empowerment of women’’, said Sabljaković.
