The government of Japan decided to give this grant to the municipality Novi Travnik for reconstruction of the Sports Center “ORŠK” Novi Travnik, in the framework of grant support for the basic projects.
Ambassador Yamazaki emphasized that this project foresees the reconstruction of a basketball court, sewage, lighting and sanitary facilities, as well as the construction of a tennis court.
“Sports can create an environment in which people unite and encourage integration between various groups and one of the examples is the exceptional success of the B&H football team. The Sports Center “ORŠK” in Novi Travnik is an old building which creates difficulties to practice sports and discourages people to use this facility”, said Yamazaki.
The Ambassador of Japan added that sports can be a useful way to create an environment in which people unite and remove the barriers that exists between them and that Japan will continue to support projects that can help build relationships between different groups or communities through sports.
Mayor Lendo thanked Ambassor Yamazaki, the government and people of Japan for the support and recalled that Japan has also previously helped Novi Travnik.
