The Government of the Republika Srpska accepted today in Banja Luka the Information on the activities of the institutions of the Republika Srpska and representatives from the Republika Srpska in the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina regarding the intentions of the Republic of Croatia to dispose of radioactive and nuclear waste at the Trgovska gora location, and gave its consent to send the Information to the National Assembly of the Republika Srpska.

The Ministry of Spatial Planning, Construction and Ecology of the Republika Srpska will continue to monitor all activities in the Republic of Croatia in the coming period, including the procedures that will be implemented in the Republic of Croatia, all with the aim of activating all legal and expert mechanisms in order to permanently prevent the construction of a radioactive waste storage and disposal site on Trgovska gora. The priority of all institutions is the protection of the right to life and health of citizens living in the Una River basin, because Trgovska gora is a matter of survival of life and health of the population of the endangered area, the Government of the Republika Srpska announced.

As stated in the Information, there is no doubt that the Republic of Croatia refuses to cooperate and provide information on the activities it is carrying out on its territory in connection with the construction of a nuclear facility on Trgovska Gora, thereby endangering the lives and health of people in 13 municipalities in the Una River basin, and at the same time causing concern for the entire region, and especially the territory of BiH.

The Government also accepted the Information on the problem of increased voltages in the transmission network and noted that the problem of increased voltages in the transmission network can lead to very serious consequences for the power system, economy and citizens, both in the Republika Srpska and Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as in the interconnection, and therefore it is necessary to take urgent measures to resolve this problem by purchasing and installing chokes on the transmission network.

The Government recommends that Elektroprenos BiH intensify its activities on the procurement and installation of chokes on the transmission network and has tasked the Ministry of Energy and Mining, and representatives of the RS in joint institutions to create legal prerequisites for the possibility of building chokes and for other legal entities that are interested to implement the same in their own arrangements.

At today’s session, the Government adopted the Information on the harmonization of the legislation of the RS with international sources of law and the acquis communautaire of the European Union, and the Decision on the appointment of persons responsible for the harmonization of regulations and other general acts of the RS with the acquis communautaire of the European Union.

The entity government has, it is stated, tasked the administrative bodies of the RS to comply with the obligations set out in the Decision on the procedure and manner of harmonizing the legislation of the RS with the acquis communautaire of the European Union and the practice and standards of the Council of Europe.
