Respirator manufactured in Gradačac certified in Britain
”We are pleased to announce that the Medical Device Testing and Evaluation Center (MD-TEC) has completed testing of a prototype mechanical ventilator for intensive care use recently designed and built by TMD Group d.o.o. Gradacac, with instructions from the University Clinical Center Tuzla. MD-TEC has produced a detailed report on functionality and usability, so the TMD Group is now working on a modified prototype,” the UK Embassy said.
In March 2020, in response to the UK Government’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic and the increased need for ventilators and similar medical devices, MD-TEC became an approved testing for the UK Government’s Ventilator Challenge program.
To date, MD-TEC has been testing prototype medical devices developed by companies around the world. Professor Tom Clutton-Brock, MD-TEC Clinical Director, characterized the prototype TMD ventilator as follows: “Considering that TMD is not originally a manufacturer of medical devices, the fan achieves an exceptional level of functionality and usability. That is why their efforts should be taken as a significant achievement, and we look forward to continuing to work with them in the further process of prototype development. ”
Director of TMD Group Adem said: “I am extremely proud of my team of experts who developed a prototype fan in such a short time, and which received positive reviews from MD-TEC. As we work on improvements, we are aware that we have launched a sector of industry in BiH – the production of medical devices. For the next step, we hope to get the CE mark and start wide production. At the same time, we are considering the possibilities of developing other medical devices,” Hanic said.
