US Vice President Kamala Harris and her campaign team rejected former US President Donald Trump’s invitation to participate in a televised debate on Fox News in September.
Harris insists Trump is sticking to a previously arranged appearance on ABC News.
Yesterday, on his “Social Truth” platform, Trump accepted Fox Television’s proposal to hold a debate with Harris on September 4 in Pennsylvania.
The Harris election headquarters announced today that “Trump got scared and is trying to get out of the debate he has already agreed to”.
“He must stop playing around and appear at the debate he has already committed to,” the statement said.
The press release notes that Harris will be there to address the audience in the so-called prime-time.
“We are ready to consider other debates after the one to which both parties have already agreed,” the statement said.
Fox News is generally seen as more favorable to Trump, and ABC News to Harris.
Trump was scheduled to debate Joe Biden on ABC News on Sept. 10, before Biden suspended his re-election campaign and endorsed Harris to run in his place late last month.
