Healthcare workers in the Sarajevo Canton have postponed their strike, it was confirmed by the Canton Sarajevo Health Workers’ Union.
An agreement was reached with the Prime Minister of Sarajevo Nihad Uk and the Ministry of Health of the Canton on the increase of hourly wages from 2.76 BAM to 3 BAM for the period from September 1 to December 31, 2023, and from January 1, 2024 to April 1, 2025. the lowest net hourly wage will be 3.07 BAM, the union said.
The Union of Healthcare Workers in the Canton of Sarajevo, the Union of Doctors of Medicine and Dentistry of CS and the Professional Union of Nurses and Technicians of CS have previously announced a strike, citing as the reason that the Government of CS and the line ministry did not understand their problems and that they could not agree on a net increase hourly wages.
The strike was scheduled for Monday, and more than eight thousand healthcare workers had a request for an increase in the net hourly wage from 2.76 BAM to 3.28 BAM.
