Hearing of Old Town Mayor and Associates, Details from the Courtroom

In the Cantonal Court in Sarajevo yesterday, there was a hearing to determine the custody of the mayor of Stari Grad Municipality Ibrahim Hadzibajric, and his associate Alma Destanovic.

It turned out that the prosecutors requested a one-month detention, and that certain evidence was presented.

They stated that Alma Destanovic is a citizen of Serbia and Kosovo and that there is a possibility of escaping from Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH).

The photos that the suspects Elmedin Karisik and Seid Hadzibajric (Ibrahim’s son) exchanged via the Sky application were also shown, showing a money counter machine with banknotes that Hadzibajric’s son sent to Karisic.

One of the photos shows a large amount of Euro banknotes, and Hadzibajric’s publication is on the table.

In conversation, Ibrahim Hadzibajric was most often addressed as “Bey”, but also “Ibro”, “Babuka” and “Mate (”Stari”)“.

Alma Destanovic was found with several thousand BAM and euros, and 160.000 BAM in her account.

Hadzibajric had 150.000 BAM in one account, 50.000 euros in another, and 9.000 euros and 17.000 BAM in his daughter Amila’s safe.

At the hearing, the defense did not allow the suspects to be photographed in the courtroom.

In the Start operation, seven people were arrested on suspicion of having committed the criminal offense of Organized crime in connection with the criminal offenses of Abuse of position or authority, Receiving gifts and other forms of benefits, Giving gifts or other forms of benefits, and Money laundering.

The rest of the arrested were handed over to the jurisdiction of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, Klix.ba reports.
