The Minister of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Zukan Helez, today received the non-resident military envoy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Brigadier Mahmoud Mohaghagh Pour, on an inaugural visit.
Brigadier Pour was introduced to Minister Helez by the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Bosnia and Herzegovina, H.E. Abouzar Ebrahimi Torkaman, who expressed his best wishes for the prosperity of Bosnia and Herzegovina and its people.
He stressed his belief that Brigadier Pour, who, as a military envoy based in Zagreb, diplomatically covers Croatia and Hungary in addition to Bosnia and Herzegovina, will do everything in his power to strengthen bilateral military cooperation between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Iran.
Minister Helez emphasized that he will never forget the assistance to Bosnia and Herzegovina, which Iran provided during the war years, when it was most needed. He noted that he believes that Iran and Bosnia and Herzegovina can also cooperate in the field of military industry development, taking into account all political circumstances and the state structure of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Brigadier Pour announced to Minister Helez an invitation for high-level delegations from BiH and Iran to exchange visits, with the aim of considering the possibility of establishing closer bilateral cooperation between the Ministries of Defense of BiH and Iran, as well as manufacturers of weapons and military equipment from both countries. The meeting was also attended by the Assistant Minister of Defense of BiH for International Cooperation Zoran Šajinović and the Chief of Staff of the Minister of Defense of BiH Salko Beba.
