After a brief reconnaissance of the fire site, the helicopters of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina have been engaged in extinguishing the fire in the Garački Podovo area near Bugojno since the morning hours.
Given that it is a mined area, members of the 2nd helicopter squadron of the Air Force and Air Defense Brigade of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina are using fire buckets and taking all safety measures to put out several fires in this area, which threatened to endanger the archaeological site. “This fire has spread and threatens to endanger the archaeological site in this area. I am appealing to local communities where there is an active fire and helicopter assistance is needed to put out the fire, to send a request to the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina for help in putting out the fire. Our helicopters are on standby and will be engaged and put out the fire after obtaining the consent of the BiH Presidency,” said Minister Helez.
