A press freedom group claims that the “brutal and unjustified attack” is the deadliest since the Maguindanao massacre in the Philippines in 2009.

The press freedom group states that the brutal and unjustified attack is the deadliest attack on journalists since the Maguindanao massacre in the Philippines in 2009, when over 40 journalists were killed.

A total of 31 journalists were killed in the Israeli attack during last week’s Israeli strikes on press offices in Yemen.

On September 10th, Israel carried out an airstrike on a media complex in Sana’a, which housed three media offices allegedly connected to the Houthis.

According to the Houthi Ministry of Health, at least 35 people were killed in the attack, including one child who was in the office, while 131 were injured.

Journalists, including war correspondents, belong to a group of particularly vulnerable and specially protected persons during armed conflict, with their rights and obligations clearly regulated so that they do not directly participate in hostilities.
