Earth Day is celebrated around the world on April 22 with the aim of encouraging people to think about all the environmental issues that the planet faces every day.
The project “Eco-Challenge – Let’s make our country even more beautiful” was launched in January 2020, with the same goal – to increase environmental awareness among fellow citizens and encourage them to take a leadership approach in solving environmental problems in local communities.
Although in the time of the coronavirus pandemic it is very difficult to organize environmental actions that unite many people around a common goal and fight for a cleaner and more beautiful nature, the “Eco-Challenge” team found ways to plant 100 full-grown trees of various species in 100 cities across BiH. The trees were provided in cooperation with the US Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the American Chamber of Commerce – AmCham.
“As of today, our country is richer for new seedlings and 100 local communities have got new trees. A tree is perhaps the best gift you can get because it means life. We must not forget that trees give us oxygen without which we could not survive, and that is why we must use every opportunity to plant new trees and take care of those that already exist,” said the “Eco-Challenge” project.
On Friday, April 23, Banja Luka will also become richer for the new seedling that will be planted with the Association of Citizens of the “City Garden” by the deputy director of the Banja Luka office, Rami Blair.
