“Opening of 54 MESS Festival will be marked by the performance of the famous Thalia theater from Germany with the play “Front” directed by Luk Perceval, which deals with World War I, as well as several other plays of this year’s selection”, emphasized Selma Spahić, the Selector and Head of Art Program MESS. This year’s selection is focused more on the idea rather than on dramatic texts and plays such as “What I Heard About the World” a British production of Third Angel or the interesting Japanese production of the young director Takahiro Fujita are selected for this year’s festival. This year the tradition of dance plays coming from France and Argentina will continue, while with classics in a controversial way will deal with “Hamlet” of Oliver Frljić and “Antigona Oriental” from Uruguay with 30 women on stage. “The show that will amaze the public as well as all of us that we have so far watched it is “Koštana” of Andraš Urban, which deals with the Balkans in the best possible way”, announced Spahić on the details of the Festival that will start on 3 and will last until 12 October 2014.
Special attention was focused on the text “Da li postoji potreba osnivanja još jednog pozorišta?” (Is there a need to establish another theater?), which was read by Director of festival Dino Mustafić and which represents his intervention on the original text from 1995 of the founder of Kamerni Theater 55 and MESS Festival Jurislav Korenić, in which lies the idea of establishing MESS Theater.
