Sarajevo, June 3, 2025 —Deputy Chair of the Council of Ministers Stasa Kosarac stated yesterday that weapons and dual-use equipment are being produced illegally at the Center for Advanced Technologies in Sarajevo and that proceedings will be initiated against those responsible.
Kosarac said that the Center for Advanced Technologies in Sarajevo does not have a permit to carry out its activities and that six drones have been produced which can be used for various purposes.
He explained that federal institutions are obligated, upon receiving a decision on trade or production, to register with the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations, which they have not done, as the Center does not have a permit to carry out its activities.
Kosarac reminded that the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations had addressed the Federal Ministry of Energy, Mining and Industry on November 20th last year, requesting information on the production and export of drones from Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) and that to this day it has not received a response.
“Considering that the media continues to report on this and that the Minister of Defense in the Council of Ministers, Zukan Helez, speaks about it, I issued an order to the Inspectorate of the Ministry of Foreign Trade to conduct an inspection of the Center for Advanced Technologies in Sarajevo on May 19th this year,” said Kosarac.
He added that during the inspection, which was, as he says, obstructed, it was found that the founder of the Center is the Canton Sarajevo (CS), and during the inspection six prototype unmanned aerial vehicles were found, four of which were multicopters, and two with fixed wings.
Kosarac, who is also the Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations, said that all the drones are operational and that testing was conducted at the Betanija site, while the fixed-wing aircraft were tested at the sports airfield in Visoko.
“In accordance with the findings of the inspection, it was discovered that the Center for Advanced Technologies signed an agreement with the Ministry of Defense on August 8th last year for participation in a project to research various dynamic systems of unmanned aerial vehicles. The project is valued at around 20 million BAM, and the drones are to be used for the needs of this ministry,” Kosarac explained.
He emphasized that this center is not registered for the production of weapons and other equipment.
“This shows that there is illegal production of weapons and dual-use equipment in the Federation of BiH (FBiH). Today, the chief inspector received an order to initiate proceedings and submit a report to the competent authorities against these persons who are unlawfully producing weapons in BiH. This is a serious affair in FBiH,” Kosarac emphasized yesterday.
Kosarac assessed that Bosniaks still believe that some new Joseph Biden will appear as the president of the United States (U.S.) who will serve their policies and that it seems to him that political Sarajevo does not want to engage in dialogue with the administration of the current president, Donald Trump.
“We have clear policies coming from the Trump administration, which are precisely directed at the sovereignty of countries without foreign interference,” said Kosarac after the Council of Ministers session.
