Influx of Tourists to Višegrad For 1 May and Easter Holidays

VI?EGRADDuring the 1st of May and Easter holidays, there was an influx of tourists to Višegrad. At hotel Višegrad, which is located near the Mehmed-paše Sokolovića bridge, there were 5.000 guests in 5 days, who stopped for a break in the summer garden here.

There were around 2.000 guests to Andrićgrad a day, and during the time of the holidays there were around 10.000 people.

“During these warm days, tourists had the chance to choose one of the 14 international brands of beer, and there was particular interest in the gift shop for souvenirs of Andrićgrad that are homemade’’, said the Manager of the stone city Žan Marjanović.

The Director of the bakery-trading company “Adria” Bojan Stojanović said that traders did not expect such a wave of tourists and added that everything was full.

“In comparison to last year, this year we marked a growth of 5 percent, with a tendency to continue until the end of the season, which is encouraging for us and other companies in Višegrad’’, said Stojanović.

The owner of the bakery “Pereca” Mladen Tasić said that there was an organized bread baking so that there would be no shortages.

All of the one hundred beds in the rehabilitation center “Vilina Vlas” in the Višegrad spa was full during the holidays. The Director Pero Petrović said that the guests were mainly from Serbia and Montenegro.

The Director of the Tourist Organization of Višegrad Olivera Todorović said that she is encouraged by the arrival of a larger number of tourists to this city, which would strengthen it economically.

The Police Station in this city confirmed that in this period there have been no incidents, which points to the fact that it is a very peaceful city.

All those interviewed said that the larger number of tourists in this city contributed to the construction of Andrićgrad, the interest for the bridge that is on the UNESCO list, for the Dobrun monastery, the spa, and for the Drina canyon near the city.
