Iran and US Begin Nuclear Talks in Oman Today

Iran and the United States will hold talks in Oman today with the aim of launching negotiations on Tehran’s nuclear program.

Although both sides have hinted at the possibility of progress, they remain sharply divided over the dispute that has lasted more than two decades and have not yet reached an agreement on whether the talks will be direct, as US President Donald Trump demands, or indirect, as Iran wants, Reuters reported.

Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who has the final say in key state matters in the Islamic Republic, has entrusted Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi with full authority to lead the negotiations, an Iranian official told the agency.
