Iran elects new Supreme Leader, Israel threatens to “persecute any Successor”

A member of Iran’s Assembly of Experts, Ahmad Alamolhoda, said today that the election of a new supreme leader who will succeed Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was killed at the beginning of the American-Israeli attacks on Iran nine days ago, has been completed.

He stated that everything now depends on the head of the Secretariat of the Corps of Experts, Hosseini Bushehri, who is in charge of announcing the decision, the semi-official Iranian news agency Mehr reported.

The body of experts consists of about 88 senior clerics elected in the elections, and their competence is to decide on the successor of the supreme leader of Iran.

Israel issued a warning

The Israeli army had previously warned that it would “pursue any successor” to the slain leader Khamenei.

In a post on social networks, the Israel Defense Forces stated that Iran’s Assembly of Experts, which has not met for decades, will soon gather in the city of Qom.

“We want to tell you that the hand of the State of Israel will continue to persecute any successor and any person who seeks to appoint a successor,” the message states.

They also added a warning to those who plan to participate in the meeting to elect a new supreme leader.

“We warn everyone who intends to participate in the meeting to choose a successor that we will not hesitate to target you. This is a warning,” the Israeli army said.
