The Iranian ambassador to Lebanon, Mojtaba Amani, was left without one eye, while the other was seriously injured after the pager he was carrying exploded two days ago.
Members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps say Amani’s injuries are more serious than initially reported and that he will be taken to Tehran for treatment, The New York Times reports.
The Saudi-owned Alhadath news channel, citing Tehran’s embassy in Beirut, said two days ago that Amani was in “good general condition” and that his injuries were only superficial.
At least nine people were killed and thousands injured when pagers exploded two days ago.
As reported by CNN, it is a broad coordinated attack attributed to Israel. Members of Hezbollah were the target.
