The Iranian Navy has unveiled its first intelligence ship, just days after the country’s military received 1.000 new drones.

Zagros is a new category of military vessels equipped with electronic sensors, capable of intercepting cyber operations and conducting intelligence surveillance.

“Zagros will be the vigilant eye of the Iranian Navy in seas and oceans,” said Navy Commander Shahram Irani.

Earlier this month, Iran began two-month-long military exercises, which have already included war games where the elite Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) defended key nuclear facilities in Natanz.

The military drills and acquisitions come at a time of heightened tensions with Israel and the United States (U.S.).

In October, a government spokesperson said the country plans to increase its military budget by approximately 200 percent to address growing threats.
