Iraq Shuts Down All Border Crossings Amid Security Concerns

The Iraqi administration has announced that Iraq’s borders are completely closed, Anadolu reports.

Lieutenant General Qays al-Muhammadawi, deputy commander of Iraq’s joint operations, told the Iraqi news agency INA that the country’s borders are completely closed and that security forces are awaiting orders from Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani to protect Iraq.

Iraqi Border Forces Commander General Muhammad Abdulwahab al-Suaydi said that they are carrying out work to strengthen security measures on the Iraq-Syria border.
