The conflict in the Middle East continued for the tenth day in a row with unabated ferocity. The Israeli army announced this morning that it launched a new wave of attacks on central Iran, which itself launched a new wave of attacks on Israel and the Arab countries of the Persian Gulf.
Israel attacked command centers linked to Iran’s security forces
Israel’s military said it had again carried out attacks on targets linked to the leadership of Iran’s security forces, including those in the city of Isfahan, while Iran launched new rocket attacks on Israel overnight.
The Israeli army announced on Telegram that the attacks in Iran were aimed at command centers belonging to the internal security authorities and the Basij paramilitary group, known for its harsh suppression of protests in the country during the previous months.
As stated, several locations for launching long-range ballistic missiles, as well as a plant for the production of rocket engines, were also hit.
Alarm sirens sounded this morning in some parts of Israel, including the greater Tel Aviv area.
The Israeli emergency medical service Magen David Adom announced that around 20 people were injured in the Iranian rocket attacks. Some were injured after falling while running towards shelters, reports DPA.
Iran launched a new wave of attacks
Hours after Iran named a new supreme leader, Iran’s Revolutionary Guard announced new missile launches.
Bahrain reports the highest number of casualties in a single attack on the Gulf states since the beginning of the war, the BBC reported.
The Ministry of Health announced that 32 civilians were injured in the drone attack, including four children, the youngest of whom is two months old.
So far, at least 10 people have been killed in the Gulf, most of them members of the security forces or foreign workers. Qatar, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia also reported new attacks overnight.
Riyadh announced that it intercepted and destroyed two waves of drones that were moving towards a large oil field. An earlier drone strike hit the US embassy, and the State Department has now ordered non-essential government officials to leave the country.
Officials in Iran have warned that they could expand attacks on regional infrastructure if Israeli and US attacks on their facilities continue.
The Israeli military also announced that it attacked Hezbollah infrastructure in Beirut this morning. Footage from the Reuters news agency shows smoke rising from the southern suburbs of the city.
The footage also shows a fire at the Ramada Hotel in Beirut and damage to an apartment in that hotel after the Israeli attack.
The CNN team in Abu Dhabi reports this morning about powerful explosions and states that these are some of the loudest impacts they have heard since the beginning of the war.
The Ministry of Defense announced that it was an air defense system that intercepted “ballistic missiles, while fighter jets intercepted drones and cruise missiles.”
Four drones that were flying towards the Shaybah oil field, one of the largest in the region, were intercepted and destroyed, the Ministry of Defense of Saudi Arabia announced on X.
The National Guard of Kuwait announced that it shot down a drone early this morning “at one of the locations under its protection”. The force said it shot down the drone “as part of efforts to secure vital facilities”.
Qatar’s armed forces announced that they had intercepted a rocket attack this morning.
Bahrain: Oil company Bapko affected
The main oil company “Bapko” in Bahrain was hit, the state news agency BNA announced.
BNA states that “Bapko” declared force majeure after the explosions in its refinery.
At the same time, the company announced that the needs of the local oil market were fully met regardless of the attack.
The government previously announced that there were injured and that damage was caused in the Sitra area as a result of an attack by an Iranian drone.
“Bapko” is the main oil refinery in Bahrain and a key facility in the country’s energy sector.
The seventh American soldier died in the war against Iran
The seventh member of the American armed forces was killed in the war that the United States of America (USA) and Israel are waging against Iran, according to the official statement.
One member of the military succumbed to injuries sustained during the initial Iranian attacks, according to the US Central Command (CENTCOM).
A soldier is said to have been seriously wounded in an attack on US soldiers last week in Saudi Arabia.
The announcement came a day after US President Donald Trump attended the return of the remains of six soldiers killed in the war with Iran. On this occasion, he traveled to Dover Air Base in the American state of Delaware, where a ceremony was held on Saturday, February 7.
