The Israeli military said it carried out a “targeted attack” in the Lebanese capital Beirut on Friday.
“The IDF (Israel Defense Forces) carried out a targeted attack in Beirut. There are no changes to Homeland Command’s defense guidance at this time,” the military said, without providing further details.

Residents of the city’s southern suburbs reported hearing a loud explosion.
The drone fired several missiles at a densely populated area known as Dahiyeh, Beirut’s Al-Mayadeen TV reported.
The Lebanese state agency announced that the attack was carried out during rush hour and that at least five children were killed.
A little earlier, the Lebanese movement Hezbollah retaliated after this week’s attacks by firing 140 rockets into the area of northern Israel.
The border conflict intensified this week after pagers and walkie-talkies used by Hezbollah members exploded on Tuesday and Wednesday, killing 37 and wounding thousands, sparking fears of an all-out war.
