It has been more than 24 hours since the US launched strikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities. The extent of the damage is still unknown. Trump says they were completely destroyed, but Iran says they were not.
–Iran: We shot down an Israeli drone-
The Revolutionary Guards’ Lorestan province public relations office announced that an advanced Hermes reconnaissance drone was shot down in Khorramabad this morning.
According to the statement, the drone was detected and shot down by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ (IRGC) air defenses.
The statement called the Israeli drone part of the “usurper regime” and added at the end, “You will be humiliated.”
On the other hand, Israel is bombing military infrastructure. The Israeli military said it was currently carrying out airstrikes on “military infrastructure” in Kermanshah, western Iran.
–The Iranian army threatens the USA: We will respond decisively–
The commander of the Iranian armed forces threatened the United States with a decisive response, according to local media.
“Whenever the Americans have committed crimes, they have received a decisive and firm response – it will be the same this time,” General Hatami said, according to a report by the state-run Fars news agency.
“The actions you have taken in the past few days have great value. They have prevented Israel’s enemy from succeeding in their operations. Today they were forced to invite the direct perpetrator of those crimes – the United States of America – and bring them into direct conflict with the Islamic Republic of Iran,” he told the assembled military leaders.
“We will defend the independence of this country with all our strength. We consider martyrdom a great honor, but today we are fighting for victory and until victory,” he added.
–Iranian Foreign Minister Meets Putin Today–
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, who is currently in Moscow, announced that he will hold “serious and important talks” with Russian President Vladimir Putin about “common challenges and threats”.
Russia has strongly condemned the US attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities, and the Russian ambassador to the UN said that the United States has “opened Pandora’s box”.
It is expected that the Iranian minister will receive strong political support from the Kremlin during the announced meeting with Putin, but military assistance from Moscow is unlikely.
Russia’s current priority is the war in Ukraine. Although Russia and Iran have a strategic partnership agreement, it is not a defense pact and Moscow is not obligated to provide military support to Tehran.
As a reminder, last week Vladimir Putin said that Iran has not even asked Russia for military assistance, and his words clearly indicated that he does not intend to rush to provide such assistance. The Kremlin has been trying to maintain good relations with both Iran and Israel in recent years, but also to build a working relationship with US President Donald Trump.
–Iranian Supreme Leader: Israel made a big mistake, will be punished–
As the world awaits the announced Iranian retaliation for the US attacks on nuclear facilities and the reaction of the Supreme Leader, whose advisers are announcing a response, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said that the Israeli bombing launched on June 13 was a big mistake and a great crime.
“The Zionist enemy made a big mistake, committed a great crime – it must be punished and right now it is being punished; or rather, it is being punished right now,” Khamenei wrote early this morning on social media, along with a photo of missiles falling on an Israeli city, with a giant skull with a Star of David on its forehead visible in the background.
