Marking of the Day of Remembrance of Jadovno 1941

13576406_1791108127792530_1686198835_nMember of the Presidency of BiH, Mladen Ivanic, attended the memorial service over Saranova pit on Velebit, on the occasion of the Day of Remembrance of Jadovno 1941, 75 years after the crimes that took place in the concentration camp Gospic-Jadovno-Pag, when Ustashas killed more than 40,123 people, mainly Serbs, in the cruelest way.

Ivanic said that he came to pay the tribute to the innocent victims that were killed and support the efforts of the Association “Jadovno 1941”, which is working to preserve the memory of history and this mass killing.

“These victims remind us that this sort of things should not be forgotten. The obligation of political and spiritual leaders is to attend these events,” said Ivanic.

Member of the Presidency of BiH in the RS expressed hope that the presence at marking the anniversary of this great suffering will be greater in the upcoming years.

He expressed satisfaction over the correct attitude of the Croatian police towards the organization of the event.

Day of Remembrance of Jadovno is marked with the blessing of His Grace Bishop of Gornji Karlovac Gerasim. The organizers of this gathering are associations of citizens “Jadovno1941” from Banja Luka and Belgrade and Diocese of Gornji Karlovac, as announced from the Presidency of BiH.
