Izetbegovic after Meeting with Covic: ‘The strongest must lead the Coalition’

An informal meeting between the President of the Party of Democratic Action (SDA) Bakir Izetbegović and the leader of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) of BiH Dragan Čović was held today in the building of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH.

– We had coffee after a long time. The topics were the situation in BiH, the main actors, the main processes. Čović is particularly interested in unblocking the EU path, and I was interested in the law on proportional representation, seeking their support. I do not intend to go into the details of the meeting – said Izetbegović.

In a short statement to reporters after the meeting, Izetbegović also referred to a possible coalition with the HDZ.

– We did not specifically discuss these matters, but I think from his entire attitude that it is simply implied. First of all, the voters will decide on this – Izetbegović emphasized.

Izetbegović also commented on the work of the Troika parties that form the government at the entity and state levels.

– This simply cannot go on like this anymore. First of all, these people have no personnel, no experience, they are political trainees who make mistakes. The Federation was positive in every way and they brought everything to a disadvantage – said Izetbegović.

He added that he is interested in a coalition in which the strongest party will lead the coalition.

– The strongest must lead, those who have the most personnel and experience in order for us to get out of this situation – said Izetbegović.
