Japan fears a Tsunami after a devastating Earthquake measuring 7 Degrees on the Richter Scale

A strong earthquake shook Japan, and the authorities immediately issued a tsunami warning after the 7-magnitude quake.

The quake is believed to have measured around seven on the Richter scale, and authorities have now said there is a risk of rising sea levels around Japan. The earthquake had a moderate depth of 139 km and was felt by many near the epicenter.

Phivolcs, the local seismological agency, said no damage was expected from the quake, but warned of aftershocks.

A 7.1-magnitude earthquake that registered six on Japan’s seismic intensity scale struck southern Kyushu on Thursday afternoon, prompting a tsunami warning for the eastern and southern coasts of Kyushu and the southern coast of Shikoku, the weather agency said.

The quake struck less than 20 miles off the coast of Miyazaki, according to the United States Geological Survey, Klix.ba writes.
