The United Kingdom (UK) King Charles has stripped his younger brother Andrew of the title of prince and forced him to leave his home in Windsor, Buckingham Palace announced, seeking to distance the royal family from him due to his connections with the Jeffrey Epstein scandal.
Andrew (65), the younger brother of Charles and the second son of the late Queen Elizabeth, has in recent years come under increasing pressure because of his behavior and ties with the late sex offender Epstein. This month, he was forced to stop using his title of Duke of York.
Charles has now escalated his actions against Andrew, stripping him of all titles, leaving him known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor.
A statement from Buckingham Palace said that Andrew had been served an official notice to give up the lease of his Royal Lodge villa on the Windsor estate, west of London, and that he would move to alternative private accommodation on the Sandringham estate in eastern England.
The king’s decision, who is still receiving regular treatment for cancer, marks one of the most dramatic moves against a member of the royal family in modern UK history.
