BiH Presidency member Željko Komšić spoke about topics facing our region, such as EU integration, climate change and regional relations, during a meeting with the leaders of the Western Balkan countries in Tivat (Montenegro), and within the Brdo-Brijuni process.
In a statement to Fena news agency, he said that he emphasized the importance of joint action in these areas, stressing the need to strengthen cooperation in order to preserve stability.
“For more than 25 years, we have been talking about regional cooperation that would overcome the challenges ahead. However, a lot more could be said about how we stand politically in relation to the commitments undertaken within regional initiatives such as CEFTA, RCC, the transport and energy community of Southeast Europe, but we would go too deep in the discussion,” added Komšić.
He pointed out that dealing with the depth of those topics, which could promote reconciliation and stability, unfortunately, simply does not correspond to political reality.
“Our political reality is dominated by the themes of arming, the introduction of mandatory military service, interference in the internal affairs of other countries, the creation of security challenges in the region, the denial of judgments of international courts and similar topics that are in the daily offer of political events in the region most of the year. I would like the reality to be different, but now it is not like that,” said Komšić after the meetings between Brdo and Brijuni.
