Komsic- Hamilton: NATO’s commitment to Strengthening Partnership and Cooperation with BiH

Member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Željko Komšić spoke with NATO Deputy Assistant Secretary General Ambassador Kevin Hamilton about the overall situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as about the current and future cooperation with NATO. During the conversation, the importance of continuous dialogue and regular meetings between representatives of BiH and NATO was emphasized.

He emphasized the support of the BiH Presidency for the continuation and strengthening of cooperation with NATO, and expressed his belief that today’s visit by Ambassador Hamilton will contribute to the further development of the partnership.

He expressed gratitude for the support provided to Bosnia and Herzegovina so far through the existing partnership frameworks, with a special focus on strengthening institutional capacities, system resilience and the ability to respond to modern security challenges. He assessed that the partnership cooperation is good and is taking place at the planned pace, which primarily refers to cooperation with the Ministry of Defense of BiH and the Armed Forces of BiH.

The discussion focused on the modernization and improvement of the conditions in which soldiers of the Armed Forces of BiH perform tasks and provide assistance to civilian authorities in responding to natural and other disasters.

During the meeting, the successful engagement of the Armed Forces of BiH in international peace support missions and joint military exercises with partner countries was highlighted.

NATO Deputy Assistant Secretary General Ambassador Hamilton reiterated NATO’s commitment to strengthening partnership and cooperation with BiH. He expressed expectations that BiH would continue implementing the reform agenda and contribute to the overall development of partnership with NATO.

On behalf of the Chairman of the BiH Presidency Denis Bećirović, the meeting was attended by Chief of Cabinet Alija Kožljak, the Public Relations Service of the BiH Presidency announced.
